Resident Spotlight: Joe and Maria
After living in Asheville for 14 years, Joe and Maria were ready for a change. Following a visit to friends who recently moved to Wendell Falls, they were captivated by the community's walkability and high-quality homes, ultimately determining that this is the ideal place for them.
Tell us your story! What brought you to Wendell Falls?
We were in Asheville for 14 years, and after our friends moved to Wendell Falls, they asked us to come see the community. We spent the day with them exploring and looking at houses, and when we got back to Asheville, we decided we wanted to move to Wendell Falls. We loved the community, and it brought us a little closer to our family, so we won’t have to travel as far to visit.
What made you fall in love with Wendell Falls?
We were really impressed with the quality of the builds in Wendell Falls. We bought our previous home in Asheville during the pandemic. We ended up really disappointed with it, and we were looking for a change.
We also love the walkability of Wendell Falls, from the trails to the ease of walking to Farmhouse Café or the grocery store. We don’t want to have to drive in the Raleigh traffic on a daily basis, so the walkability of the community really stood out to us. It is also a huge benefit to have the Wake County Fire Department & Emergency Medical Services in the community.
What was the process like purchasing your home?
The attention to detail of Homes by Dickerson really impressed us – both during the builds and after. The team was very good about having a check list and going over it with us throughout the process, so it wasn’t just our responsibility. They were serious about having a quality product and making sure we were happy with our home.
What details about your home make it perfect for you?
We really like that the community is built out section by section, so our neighborhood is already complete even though the community is continuing to grow. We also love that our home has an open floorplan and that the primary suite is on the first floor, with the upstairs being more of a guest space. We plan to live in this home for years to come, so it is great that we can primarily live on the first floor without having to go upstairs daily.
What has your time been like in the community so far?
We have been on the road quite a bit visiting family, but we really enjoy the Farmhouse Café, and everyone has been so friendly. We are excited to spend more time in the community after the holidays.
What are you excited about for the future of the community?
We are looking forward to the gym and other businesses that are coming to the community. We have also enjoyed the restaurants and wine bar in downtown Wendell and are excited to see it continue to grow.
