Pocket Park Playbook
In Wendell Falls, you have the abundance of choice when it comes to outdoor spaces. Before the first home was ever sold, the developers behind Wendell Falls already allocated land for parks, trails & open spaces. This comes from a fundamental understanding of how nature and our everyday surroundings play an integral role in how we live our lives and the quality of life lived. So, here is your “Pocket Park Playbook”, to help you find the outdoor space that is the best fit for you (or, explore them all)!
Rocky Falls Park
DO go chasing waterfalls! Did you know we have our very own falls in Wendell Falls? (Hint: it's in the name). At Rocky Falls Park, we have an overlook where you can easily see the peaceful falls, made even better if there has been recent rainfall. You can also take a walk down the trail to the left of the overlook to feel like you’ve been transported away to the Western North Carolina mountains with the calming sound of the waters flowing over the large granite boulders. There is also a natural wood climbing structure and a picnic area if those are more your (or your kid’s) speed.
Shindig Park
If you’re looking for a place to hang out with some neighbors and friends on a cool autumn evening, look no further than Shindig Park. With built-in corn hole boards and a gas fire pit, this park has everything you need for a little get-together! (You can check out the fire pit key & cornhole bags at the information center, located inside the Farmhouse).
The Grove
Think of The Grove as Wendell Falls’ “Central Park”. Complete with terraced seating, Adirondack chairs, a stage to check out live music & other events, and another place to “hang out” literally, in the hammocks. In addition to the plethora of places to sit, you can also find a place to get active! The Grove features an outdoor fit-pod including a pull-up bar, dip bars, resistance bands, multi-height boxes, and a rock-climbing wall.
Tall Tale Park
“Fee-fi-fo-fum” are you looking for place to have some fun? Tall Tale Park is the perfect place to have a picnic, relax with friends & family, or relax inside our solar-powered selfie cloud bench.
Lunar Landing
Looking for something a little more “out of this world”? Check out Lunar Landing. This creative playscape features swings, slides, tunnels, mounds, balance beams, and a unique climbing structure to help imaginations blast off!
Starry Meadow
Our newest passive pocket park, Starry Meadow, is a place with plenty of open space for various activities, as well as hammocks for a little relaxation. While you’re here, check out the stellar mailbox kiosk designs!
Solstice Park
This elevated hillside park is perfect for viewing the sunset in Wendell Falls. Solstice Park also features 3 large sculptures that create eye catching shadows depending on the time of day. Luckily there are also multiple spinners to keep the kids dizzy – we mean busy – while you take in the sculptures and sunset views!
Three Points Park
There are way more than three reasons you and your kids will love this pocket park! Three Points Park features swings, trampolines, slides, seesaws, bucket spinners, and even a zipline. There are also areas nearby for seating where you can take in all the action, even if you don’t want to be a part of it. There is also an open field for play or for pause, your choice.
Sunset Park
Who says you can’t work from anywhere? Sunset Park features an outdoor workstation pavilion with electrical outlets to charge your devices and, as the name suggests, a place to catch a beautiful sunset to help keep yourself fully charged.
Playgrounds in Wendell Falls
If you or your kids are in the mood for something a little more familiar, check out one the playgrounds in Wendell Falls. Currently, there are two dedicated playgrounds in Wendell Falls, with more on the way. One is the one-of-a-kind Asheville Playground located next to the Farmhouse pool made of natural materials like rope and wood. The other is the playground located next to the Perch Pool in phase 10. Either of these options are guaranteed to help your kids get some energy out!
