Seeing Green (Lawns)
The grass is always greener when your home’s outdoor landscape is looking well-tended and fabulous here at Wendell Falls! Spring is officially in season, the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping and it is prime time to give your lawn a little love.
Here, we outline 4 top tips to help you achieve the ultimate curb appeal for your lawn space.
Fertilizer Is Your Friend
Let’s get some dirt moving! Spring marks the start of the planting season, a time when temperatures are on the rise and soil is softening—aka the ideal time to apply extra fertilizer. It’s always a good idea to sprinkle fertilizer on your lawn right around your third lawn mowing session of the season.
All Over Overseeding
The best remedy for brown grass and bare areas that make your lawn look drab is overseeding. Overseeding, essentially spreading grass seed on top of an existing yard, allows the grass to thicken and revamp your lawn’s overall look and health. Two green thumbs up!
Don’t Forget the Flower Beds
Give your flower beds some TLC after a long winter by clearing away dead leaves and trimming unkempt foliage from last year. Pro tip: Don’t forget to wear a pair of gardening gloves to protect your hands from cuts and scrapes from prickly and thorny plants.
Whack Those Weeds
This one is gardening 101—weeds are not your friend. To protect the plants and vegetables you’re nurturing, weeds need to be plucked out of the ground or sprayed with a bottle of pre-emergent weed killer to protect your precious plants from the loss of much-needed H2O and other nutrients. Goodbye, weeds; hello, happy garden!
